Yesterday I casually lounged around and listen to Kanye West’s Life of Pablo album. The album been out for a minute now and I didn’t remember any visuals for the album being released, and then Famous came on. I paused it and went straight to YouTube to watch the video that caused a stir on the internet. (Yea , I’m pretty late). I learned that Yeezy’s visual was influenced by artist, Vincent Desiderio’s painting “Sleep” , with a swap of casting members starring George W. Bush, Donald Trump, Anna Wintour, Rihanna, Chris Brown, Taylor Swift, Kanye, Kim Kardashian, Ray J., Amber Rose, Caitlyn Jenner, and Bill Cosby. First impression, I’m thinking this is weird , but it was funny at the same time. I really didn’t know how to interpret what I was viewing. I scrolled to the comments and I came across a very interesting comment breaking down a possible meaning of the video by YouTube user SHELLSHOCK . It read ,

This video is about being famous and the repercussions of having the spotlight on you at all times. This represents the fact that even though these peoples lives are all vastly different, each one of them has had the spotlight shine on them in a negative way, all in different ways, but at the end of the day, they all share one thing in common. They’ve felt that feeling and they can all relate to each other in that way, despite how extremely polar-opposite many of them are to each other. They still sleep in the same bed, and they are naked to the world, because the spotlight is constantly on them, they have lost the ability to hide anything about them or keep anything personal. The media world has made them naked with its paparazzi voyeuristic culture. The video depicts this.

Notice how Kim’s butt is showing because the whole world has seen it.

Notice how Chris Brown’s hand is in a fist, harkening back to the Rihanna incident and perhaps several of the other scuffles/outbursts he’s gotten into that were reported by the media.

Notice how Ray-J is reaching for Kim under the pillow, showing that he still tries to bring her up in interviews/tweets etc in an effort connect himself to her fame to try and make himself remain relevant.

Notice how Caitlyn Jenner is holding the blanket over her ‘private’ area because she has said in many interviews that she does not want to talk about what procedures she has or has not had down there, despite being open about the sex change.

Notice how Bill Cosby is at the edge of the bed, on the outside, exiled. Notice how he has a hand on someone who is unconscious.

Notice how Rihanna is turned away from Chris Brown with her hands on her stomach. This harkens back to the rumors she was pregnant with Chris Brown’s child a few years ago, and her denial of those rumors.

Notice how Donald Trump is the lying on his stomach with his back turned completely and facing away, hiding something. ”
